May Details + Big Life Update

May Details + Big Life Update

It’s been pretty quiet over here on the blog but that is because we have some big events coming up! We are officially moving to Portland, OR. I’m very emotional about it. I’m happy to be back with Austin full time, since he has been working back and forth for the last 9 months. I’m excited to live in a more urban environment again and walk everywhere. I’m excited to explore the West Coast which I haven’t done much of. I’m excited to keep my job for the time being (at least through the end of this season which will be this fall) and work remotely. Mostly, I’m SO SO thrilled for Austin and his new job. It’s been a long time coming and he deserves every good thing that comes his way. He has worked so hard and taken a lot of risks and they paid off. There’s also some drawbacks, being far away from family and friends, having to start all over again in a new city, wanting to start a family in an unfamiliar environment, the grungier vibe of Portland is not really me, and leaving my office environment, even if I can keep working remotely for a while. But, the good out weighs the bad I think. And while I’m having a lot of conflicting emotions, I think it is the right next step for us. We were at a fork in the road between San Francisco and Portland and we are taking this leap. Austin is already out there but we will be moving our stuff and I’ll be joining him at the beginning of next month.

  1. Get everything together to move (the worst) and make some big decisions about an apartment, my car, job details, etc.

  2. Visit our families one more time before we head west. I visited Kentucky last month but will probably stop by again on our drive cross country. We are also going to Chicago for Memorial Day weekend to visit Austin’s family and I can’t wait to see my nieces.

  3. Buy a rain jacket. Ha! I don’t have a good enough jacket for the rain in Portland!

  4. Soak up all the pilates classes before I move!

  5. Go to all my favorite restaurants, NanaTaco, Bar Virgile, Vimala’s, Neal’s Deli, and Armadillo Grill before I leave!
