Two Trips. One Weekend.
This past weekend was a whirlwind! It started on Friday when I flew to St. Louis for the wedding of my study abroad flatmate Molly. Molly, Kaitlyn, Meggie, Ali, and I lived in a two- bedroom flat in London for the winter semester of 2010. We travelled from St. Louis, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Minneapolis, and Kentucky and became family instantly. I treasure their friendship so much and it has endured even when we came home 8 years ago! None of us have ever had a fight let alone argued- when have you ever heard of 5 completely random girls getting along so well! I can tell you, no one other group from our class has stayed so close. We are so lucky! They watched me meet and fall in love with Austin and we travelled around Europe together, cozied up for family dinners on N. Gower St, took long walks through Regent’s Park to class, and went out to the pub together. That semester abroad was such a memorable and transformative time for us and we got to share that time together. Since that semester we have met up and visited each other, but have been able to spend a few long weekends all together at weddings, the first being mine! Every visit together is never long enough and we leave planning our next get-together.
Molly’s wedding was a blast!! We attended the rehearsal dinner which was a bonfire and hayride out in the country. The temperature the whole weekend was perfection. Cool, no humidity- the perfect fall weekend. The next day she and Joe said their vows in a beautiful Catholic ceremony in the afternoon. There was a little break in between the ceremony and reception so we went and got a snack and drink in Kirkwood, MO at an awesome patio that had a fire pit in our table! Then, it was time to head to the reception. It was in a beautiful converted barn that spilled out into an outdoor patio where we danced under the stars and string lights! Magic! And I need to add, her DJ - Christian- was fabulous! Best DJ I’ve ever experienced at a wedding. He was so so fun! There was also a huge photo booth that we frequented more than a few times! We had a blast and my feet hurt the next day from all the dancing.

The only downside of the weekend was that Austin couldn’t come! He was missed, but on Sunday I got to fly from St. Louis to Charleston to meet up with him for a couple days. I hadn’t seen him in 7 weeks and it was so fun to go to a Portland game (still undefeated!) and meet the team and just spend some quality time in our favorite US city! We hit our favorite spots Little Jacks and Millers All Day (best club sandwich ever!) I walked around the South of Broad neighborhood when I got in on Sunday while I waited for Austin to finish up with his training session. We met his coworkers out for drinks at the Belmont and 5Church, which are both great if you’re in the area.
