36 Hours in Charleston
Charleston is our happy place. We adore this little city on the water, the narrow cobblestone streets, and the amazing restaurants scattered throughout the bay. The scents of jasmine and honeysuckle flowing through the air in the spring can't be replicated and paired with the blooming flowers in every season bring us so much joy and peace. We always leave Charleston with full bellies, smiling faces, and sore feet- the perfect weekend remedy for us! It is one of our goals to retire to Charleston or move there even sooner if we can afford it someday. The summers are hot, muggy, and crowded, but the charm never dissipates and it keeps us coming back weekend after weekend.
We drove up on Saturday morning and made it in time for lunch and left after an early dinner on Sunday night. It was such a quick trip when your activities consist of walking around at a leisurely pace, looking at the beautiful houses, eating delicious meals, and literally stopping to smell the roses AND jasmine, we felt refreshed even after just one night away. The best deal on a hotel we could find was at the Days Inn, not great but the location couldn't have been better as it was right on Meeting St and walking distance to everything and included parking.
Here are a few snapshots of our latest trip and our new favorite spots to visit, if you'd like to see...
Where We Ate:
Indaco - delicious pizza and pasta and a great happy hour deal!
Millers All Day - Amazing breakfast spot on King Street and we actually went twice! They had the BEST club sandwich we've ever had and we love a club sandwich.
Goat.Sheep.Cow North - On our way into town we always stop here for a glass of rose and a charcuterie board and speciality sandwich to split. This speciality cheese shop never disappoints!
The Ordinary - Perfect spot for a pre-dinner drink.
Peninsula Grill - Go for dessert! The coconut cake is a game changer- and our wedding cake!
Little Jack's - We love the burgers, garlic knots, and the chopped salad. It's one of our favorites.
Callie's Hot Little Biscuit - The perfect morning (or late night) pick me up! The cinnamon biscuits are amazing but if you are in the mood for something salty, try the fiery pimento cheese biscuit!
