Snapshots from Rome
Our latest trip to Rome was short and sweet. It was one of many stops on our Gandolfo family Italian reunion. Austin and I have been to Rome before together (during our early months of dating) and I just loved the city so much. A lot of people on our trip felt like Rome was too congested and too busy- I mean it is a big city! But I guess having just visited Sicily (which I will post about soon!), it was a shockingly more energetic.
~Rome is a magical place and so unique in how it blends the ancient with the modern and how it offers something for everybody, no matter what your interests are. The history is just stunning. You can so easily get swept up by the sheer magnitude that you are able to see and touch and recount the days of almost two thousand years ago. It's so so much more than just the food (while that's extraordinary in and of itself). It's the architecture and artistry, the people and their passion for life and pleasure and generations gone by. It's La Dolce Vita...and PASTA!
I love the energy, the people watching, the golden glow that casts the whole city, the vespas, the various shades of terra cotta throughout the city, turning the corner to find the ancient ruins, centuries old cobblestones, and the romantic essence that flows out of the Roman people. That's why Dean Martin sang, That's amore! Enjoy some of our snapshots of Rome.
